Digital Twin of the Ocean for Offshore Wind Energy (DTO4OWE) is an European research and innovation project bringing together leading universities, research institutes, industry and governmental agencies to support the sustainable expansion of off-shore wind energy (OWE) in the Baltic and North Seas.

Off-shore wind energy sector stakeholders such as developers, OWF service providers, environmental consultants, governmental regulators and researchers, are welcome to provide input via a short questionnaire: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/4cad44bb-d402-5de5-50e4-02eda464724b

Please fill the questionnaire to indicate the expectations of off-shore wind energy sector (and related sectors) for DTO services and products. Your feedback will help us to build fit-for-purpose sub-regional Digital Twins of the Baltic and North Seas that can simulate, assess and visualize OWF-driven changes in the marine environment from short-term operations to multi-decadal futures.

The resulting DTO solutions and tools will support off-shore wind energy sector (and other related Blue Economy sectors) by enabling (1) smarter and cost-effective planning of OWF sites, (2) safer operations of OWF’s, (3) improved environmental impact assessment and (4) more sustainable use of marine space. Developed DTO applications are up-scalable to other European regions and compatible with EDITO, Destination Earth, and EMODnet infrastructures.

The feedback of wider public will complement the requirements provided by the projects Stakeholder Advisory Board that contains representatives from:

– off-shore wind energy developers: RWE Renewables (UK), Equinor (NO), Utilitas Wind (EE)

– OWE related sectors (aquafarming and environmental consultancy): Kerteminde Seafarm, (DK), Ocean Rainforest (INT), Multiconsult (NO),

– governmental agencies: Finnish MSP coordination (FI), Danish Hydraulic Institute (DK)

– academia: Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NO), Wageningen University (NL)
